Unbeaten North American Boxing Association (NABA) welterweight champion and Top-10 contender MIKE JONES, of Philadelphia, PA, makes the fourth defense of his title when he faces HENRY BRUSELES, of Gurabo, Puerto Rico, in the main event of an all-action card, Saturday evening, February 27, at Bally’s Atlantic City. The first bout will begin 8:00 p.m. Jones, 26, is considered one of the hottest prospects in boxing. His 19-0 record, including 16 knockouts, has elevated his world ratings to a career high — No. 8 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), No. 11 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), and No. 16 by the World Boxing Council (WBC). He won the vacant NABA title on August 29, 2008 at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia, knocking out Brazilian strongman Juliano Ramos (15-1, 12 KOs), in the sixth round. Bruseles, 28, a three-time North American Boxing Organization (NABO) champion represents Jones’ toughest opposition so far. A pro since 1999, Bruseles has a 28-3-1 record, with 15 of those victories coming by stoppage. He enters this fight riding a five-year winning streak, including victories over Wilfredo Negron, Ener Julio, Arturo Urena, Cesar Bazan, Robert Frankel, Ben Tackie and Mario Ramos. Bruseles has not lost since January 22, 2005, against pound for pound icon Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Remaining tickets for the seven-bout card, priced at $75 and $50, can be purchased at the offices of Peltz Boxing (215-765-0922), all Ticketmaster outlets (1-800-745-3000), or online at www.Ticketmaster.com and www.peltzboxing.com. |
